Quilt Style
T-Shirt quilts can be made either with or without sashing (fabric framing each t-shirt block).
Quilts with no sashing result in t-shirt blocks that are right next to each other (t-shirt against t-shirt). This style works best in cases where there is a wide variety of t-shirt color. We will always try to place the blocks so that the same color shirts are not next to each other. The seams between shirts with no sashing tend to have a thicker feel than those with sashing.
Quilts with sashing result in a framed look. While the sashing fabric is ultimately decided on by you (the customer), we will make recommendations on color & print based on the shirts you provide to complete your project.
Quilt Batting
Batting is the material used between the quilt top (your t-shirts) and the backing. We offer 4 options for batting.
100% Polyester: Fluffier w/ a higher loft. Often used in baby & children's quilts because it offers a very soft structure for the finished product.
80/20: 80% Cotton / 20% Polyester batting gives you the qualities of both the cotton & polyester - breathable but with loft and a soft hand.
100% Cotton: Known best for its breathability. Often used in antique quilts. The final feel of the quilt is often more structured, crisper & a little heavier feeling.
No Batting: Only recommended for fleece-backed quilts. Results in a more blanket-type feel.
